The fourth stage named Lahti gradually expands residential development near the Rokytka River in Prague – Hloubětín. Our company took part in the construction of all four stages of the SUOMI Hloubětín project (Espoo, Oulu, Turku and Lahti) which are named after major Finnish cities to highlight the Nordic roots of the project developer, YIT. The Lahti stage is named after one of Finland’s main winter sports centres and involves the construction of three six-storey buildings with a shared one-storey basement and ground floor. It will offer 104 flats in a modern Finnish style in configurations ranging from 1 + kitchenette to 5 + kitchenette with sizes from 31 m2 to 131 m2; each flat also has its own storage unit in the basement. Of course, there are also parking spaces in the underground garages for residents and in front of the buildings for visitors. The plan includes facilities for washing bicycles and dogs as well as a pram room. In addition to living spaces, the ground floor will also contain commercial units facing the street. The enclosed courtyard will contain small front gardens for ground floor flats and a shared patio with greenery, a playground and benches. The project includes also a reclamation of the Rokytka River and its banks where YIT is planning to create spaces for relaxation and entertainment. The modest design of the houses is clearly inspired by traditional Nordic architecture. The concept is based on straight and clear lines. The façades, combining light and dark shades, are dominated by semi-recessed balconies and set-back floors. The only exception are the top floors where the parapets extend over the rest of the building to create spacious terraces with sun screens that block direct sunlight. The design of the patio is based on a different approach and mainly uses organic shapes. When seen from the windows of the adjacent houses, the patio should evoke the variety and diversity of Finnish nature full of lakes and forests
