Housing complex SUOMI Hloubětín, 5th – 7th phase, Prague

Two new phases of apartment houses, 5th phase Salo and 7th phase Porvoo, are being added to the residential district in Finnish style SUOMI Hloubětín in Prague 9. Objective of the 6th phase is construction of a kindergarten. Construction of this phase of the project is the continuation of a successful long-term cooperation with a Finnish developer who worked on the construction of all the previous phases in this area – 1st phase Espoo, 2nd -3rd phase Oulu and Turku and 4th phase Lahti. The 5th phase called Salo consists of two 8-storey buildings B1 and B2 which in total have 101 housing units, which range from one-bedroom flats + kitchenette to 5 rooms + kitchenette. The sizes vary from 32 m2 to 120 m2. All the flats have a private balcony, terrace or a front garden. Additionally, the B1 building offers four commercial spaces. Part of the 7th phase Porvoo is a construction of a 6-storey building A6 with 60 housing units, which are the same sizes as those in the 5th phase. All three apartment buildings are connected by a shared basement – two underground floors with parking spots, cellar space, pram room and a room for cleaning bikes. The architectural design of the apartment houses is based on a typical Nordic style which is characteristic for its clear and straight shapes. Shaping of the facades is achieved thanks to the partially embedded balconies and floors and overhanging attics of the last floor. Rigid frames covered by sunshades create an important element on the main terraces on the highest floor. Inherent opposite of clean and straight lines is the natural shape of the inner courtyard, which is supposed to resemble the diversity of Finnish nature full of lakes and forests. The concept of the housing units respects modern trends and current demands of clients. The kindergarten is in the middle of the Suomi Hloubětín area and thanks to its nature forms the centre of community activities and events in the area. It has two above-ground floors and a technical under-ground floor. There are four classrooms in total on the ground and first floor. They have capacity for 12 to 15 children. The kindergarten is an important point of orientation thanks to the prominent shape of the building.
