We are starting the construction works on the Multifunctional Arena in Jihlava

During the opening ceremony on Friday, the 28th of July 2023, the excavator started the demolition of the metal wall of the dilapidated CZ LOKO hockey hall with the hydraulic scissors, so the construction of the new Horácká multifunctional arena had started.

During the short ceremony the guests could see the symbolical removal of the last benches and also the hockey wardrobe, that was used by the Czechoslovak hockey legend Jiří Holík. These artefacts will be moved to the newly built Hall of Fame after completing the construction.

Some of the leading event participants were the Major of Jihlava, Petr Ryška, the President of the Senate of the Czech Republic Parliament, Miloš Vystrčil, the Governor of the Vysočina Region, Vítězslav Schrek, one of the architects from Chybík&Krištof studio (the authors of the arena’s final look), Michal Krištof, and representing GEMO a.s. the Chairman of the Board of Directors, Ing. Jaromír Uhýrek. In addition to Jiří Holík, other ice-hockey legends, such as Jan Klapáč, Patrik Augusta, Oldřich Válek and Bedřich Ščerban took part.

The completion date of the new almost 2 billion CZK arena is planned for autumn 2025. Until then, the HC Dukla Jihlava will use the ice floor in Jindřichův Hradec and Pelhřimov.
