The TAMPERE residential building, named after Finland’s third-largest city, is part of the SUOMI Hloubětín residential complex. It will offer a total of 68 flats with layouts ranging from studio apartments (1+kc) to four-room flats (4+kc) and sizes from 35 m² to 104 m². Each flat will have a terrace or balcony. The building will also feature underground and outdoor parking spaces, cellars and storage units, a pram and bicycle storage room, and a spacious lobby.

The building’s location completes the renovated central square of Alvar Aalto. Both the main entrance and the five commercial units on the ground floor are oriented towards this central hub. The building is divided into two sections: a main high-rise with 13 above-ground floors and a side section with four above-ground floors.

The TAMPERE building is a dominant feature of the entire Finnish quarter and acts as a symbolic gateway to the complex from the northern side. In line with the YIT philosophy, the construction of the TAMPERE phase is environmentally friendly and incorporates a number of ecological elements. For some of the structures, “green concrete” made from recycled construction demolition waste is used. Photovoltaic panels are installed on the roof. During construction, the amount of waste generated is monitored to reduce construction demolition waste.

In the western corner of the plot, a retention swale is being created, which will connect to the complex’s existing sophisticated system for sustainable water management. Rainwater is collected on the green roofs, where it is partially evaporated and partially drained into the internal sewage system. From there, it first flows into an accumulation tank, where it is used for irrigation in TAMPERE. If the tank overflows, the water drains into the retention swale, where it gradually soaks into the ground. This solution results in almost 100% utilisation of rainwater on the site.
