PRESS RELEASE

Prague, 2nd October 2025

WIEDEN s.r.o., a leading Czech supplier of lightweight external envelopes, has become part of the Gemo construction group.

Wieden was founded by Pavel Wieden (at the time under the Fenestra brand) in 1991 and has been specialising in the design and execution of bespoke glazed structures and facades since its inception. In 2019, the investment company ARX Equity Partners became its new majority owner. Concurrently, a part of Skanska a.s.’s enterprise was acquired, namely the Lightweight External Envelopes plant in Horní Počernice, Prague. This step significantly boosted its production and implementation capacities, enabling it to expand its reach in the Czech market. Beyond the domestic market, the company focuses on activities in Northern Europe. Its successful track record includes numerous projects in Sweden, Norway, but also in Poland, Romania, and Japan. It currently employs 80 staff and has achieved an average annual turnover exceeding 550 million Czech Crowns over the last five years.

The Gemo Group is thus becoming the 100% owner of WIEDEN s.r.o. Gemo is one of the largest and most significant construction companies in the Czech Republic. The company undertakes timeless, modern residential, administrative, commercial, and industrial projects with an emphasis on sustainability and architectural quality. The turnover of the group’s construction division will exceed 7 billion Czech Crowns in 2025. The selling party was the investment company FW Group a.s.

Wieden has been a long-term supplier of facade solutions for some of Gemo’s construction projects. This successful collaboration was reflected in the prestigious execution of the Roztyly Plaza administrative project in Prague 11. Among the most significant buildings featuring Wieden facades are undoubtedly the Czech National Pavilion at the EXPO 2025 World Exhibition in Osaka, Japan. Further examples include the administrative building of Terminal 1 at Václav Havel Airport, the Prague administrative buildings River Garden, Parkview, and Harfa Business Center. Iconic structures also include the Kineum Garda and Hotell K20 hotels in Gothenburg, Sweden, the BY 35 and BY 36 hospital buildings in Malmö, and the Oxford residential project and the Herrjarva administrative building in Stockholm.

Ing. Jaromír Uhýrek, founder and majority owner of the Gemo Group, comments on the transaction: “We are very pleased that the acquisition of Wieden will lead to the further strengthening of our group. We see great synergistic potential in the cooperation of both companies. We believe that this gives our construction company, GEMO a.s., a further competitive advantage in the general contracting market for construction works.”
