GEMO OLOMOUC, spol. s r.o. focuses on complete turnkey construction projects in civil engineering, i.e. new buildings and renovations in residential, community and industrial construction, including infrastructure.

The company was established in 1990. The company's development strategy was defined to ensure that the controlling partners are professionally and personally involved in the company. Since March 2003, the management is represented by two partners, Ing. Jaromír Uhýrek and Ing. Boris Němeček, who are also the company executives.

GEMO OLOMOUC, spol. s r.o. has 450 full-time employees and is formed by the following independent centres:

• construction operations centre
• rental centre
• piloting centre
• electro centre
• sanitary and heating centre
• plasterboard centre
• steel structure centre
• real estate and engineering centre

In January 2005, the company changed its structure and is now divided into the following divisions:

• Economic Division
• Legal and HR Division
• Sales Division
• Production Division
• Real Estate and Engineering Service Division
• Certification Division
• Logistics Division
• Transport and Rental Division

Since its establishment, the company has expanded more than tenfold. In 2002-2004 the company posted receipts from building operations from CZK 1.3 to 1.7 bn while maintaining premium quality of the performed work. The objective of the partners in the near future is to stabilize annual revenues from operations at the amount of CZK 2 to 2.5 bn (with approximately 500 employees). The company has implemented and respects quality standards compatible with EU regulations and has paid attention to continuous enhancement of labour productivity. The objective is to ensure long-term prosperity, development and stability of the entire company.

GEMO OLOMOUC, spol. s r.o. holds quality certificates according to ČSN EN ISO 9001:2001, safety at work certificates according to ČSN EN ISO 14001:1997, environment certificates according to OHSAS 18001:1999 and qualification licence No. 11/2004 in accordance with Act 40/2004 Coll., on public contracts. In 2001, the company implemented the NAVISION FINANCIALS economic information system and the IPOS system for construction operations management.

Among the successes of GEMO, there is the award received by the GEMO Hotel in the contest of the "Building of Year 1995", organized during the 6th FOR ARCH 95 International Fair in Prague. In the contest for the "Building of Year 96", the building of the State District and Regional Archive in Olomouc was nominated among the 15 most successful structures in the Czech Republic. The jury particularly appreciated the complexity and originality of the structure and the high quality of construction work. In the contest for excellent reinforced-concrete structure, the building of the State District and Regional Archive in Olomouc was awarded in 1996 by the Czech Society for Concrete and Masonry, Czech Society of Civil Engineers. In the contest for the "Building of Year 99", the structure of the PORSCHE Sales and Service Centre in Brno was among the 15 most successful structures in the Czech Republic, where the jury particularly appreciated the original use of the structure with respect to the functional structure of the entire complex. In the contest of the "Building of Year 2000", the structure of the GRUNDFOS complex in Olomouc was among the 15 most successful structures in the Czech Republic In 2001 - 2002, GEMO OLOMOUC, spol. s r.o. was awarded 1st prize in the Olomouc Region Structures contest in the category of industrial structures for the building of Torrington Olomouc, 2nd place in the category of community structures for the building of Haná Entertainment-Shopping centre, 2nd place in the category of residential structures for the residential building in Balbínova Street in Olomouc and 2nd place in the category of Renovation of Listed Structures for the Renovation of Building at 21 Pavelčákova Street, Olomouc, for which Gemo also obtained a diploma for the Facade of Year 2002. In 2004 GEMO OLOMOUC, spol. s r.o. received the award for 2004 Building of the Year in the Olomouc Region in the category of Civic Facilities for its newly constructed administration building on Dlouhá Street in Olomouc. This contemporary, modern, and conservatively conceived work was also nominated for the award “2005 Building of the Year”, and received two additional awards in this competition, ABF FOUNDATION AWARD for a very progressive and thorough approach to the use of Information Technology in operating and maintaining the building, as well as in anti-flood measures, and the STAVITEL (BUILDER) MAGAZINE award for very sensitive detail design with respect to architectural, construction, and user requirements.

Future plans

One of the strategic objectives of GEMO OLOMOUC, spol. s r.o. is to extend its competence in new sectors, particularly as regards ecological buildings, engineering communications and service pipelines and monolithic structures, i.e. to establish independent centres focusing on these areas. In 2006, the company will open a new plant deposit, including new storage buildings up to the standard EU parameters and the development and implementation of a new system for logistics and transport organization. In addition, the company will focus on further strengthening and development of its developer's and engineering services; it is currently preparing new building projects in residential, community, industrial and also sports construction.
